Even before the pandemic, the need for mental health resources for youth has been growing - COVID-19 only exacerbated the existing needs and highlighted limitations to accessing resources and care. A CDC report from 2020 showed that there was a 31% increase in ER visits for mental health reasons for those between 12 and 17 years old.
That’s why Headspace is launching Headspace for Teens, an initiative that empowers teens to care for their mental health by providing free access to Headspace, ultimately helping them build daily mindfulness routines that last a lifetime. As a way to directly reach teens, Headspace is partnering with youth-focused nonprofits Bring Change to Mind and Peer Health Exchange. To take advantage of the Headspace for Teens offer, teenagers based in the U.S., ages 13-18, must register with one of said nonprofit partners to gain free access to the Headspace app.
