If you're supposed to have Headspace for free through your employer or a partner (such as a health plan, benefits program, or a membership perk) but you're being asked to start a paid subscription or free trial, it usually means your account isn't connected to your benefit yet.
Here are some steps to fix it:
1. Use your benefit link - Instead of signing up via Headspace.com, make sure to use the link provided from your employer's benefits portal, health plan member site, or the partner app/email that offered you Headspace. Health Plans like Kaiser Permanente or Cigna will require a few extra steps.
2. In the app, choose "Access through work or health plan" - Some providers, such as Cigna and Booking amy require a SSO login. If this is the case, please pick the option to access through your work or health plan from the Login screen.
3. Cancel any paid subscription - If you previously paid through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, please make cancel your subscription on the appropriate platform. Only subscriptions purchased through Headspace directly can be cancelled through the app
4. Verify code is correct - If you are using a code from a partner such as Vitality, Revolut or WealthSimple, please make sure the code supplied is entered correctly and exactly as provided. Also, please note that only one partner code can be active at a time, and new codes can only be added once the current one expires.
5. Look for the activation email - Many benefits send an email titled "Activate your Headspace Plus Subscription" with a Verify button. If you are not seeing it, please check your spam folder.
6. Give it a little time - If you just signed up with the partner or are a new employee, it can take up to a week for your eligibility to update before activation works.
Still being asked to pay?
If you've done all of the above and still hit a paywall, see an "already used"/"you already have a subscription" error, or never get the activation email, your account likely needs a manual fix on our side. Contact Headspace support with the email you're using and your employer/partner name, and we'll connect your benefit.
