If you have a secondary insurance plan you’d like to add, please email insuranceeligibility@headspace.com with the following:
- The name of both of your insurance provider
- Your member ID numbers
- Photos of the front and back of your insurance cards
- Which plan should be listed as your primary and which as your secondary
How do I know which plan is primary or secondary?
If you’re covered by more than one plan, your insurance providers will need to coordinate how your benefits are applied. This is called Coordination of Benefits (COB).
To avoid delays or claim issues, we recommend contacting both of your insurance providers to:
- Confirm which plan is primary and which is secondary
- Make sure each plan has the other on file
If Coordination of Benefits isn’t completed, claims may be denied and you may be responsible for the cost of sessions at our private pay rates.
How billing works with two plans:
When you have both a primary and secondary plan, your primary insurance must be billed first. Once your primary processes the claim, any remaining balance may then be submitted to your secondary plan.
Even if Headspace is in-network with your secondary insurance—or has a specific relationship with your plan (like Kaiser, Blue Shield of California, or Cigna)—we’re still required to follow this billing order.
If you’d like to use Headspace through your secondary insurance, you can sign up through that plan and then email us at insuranceeligibility@headspace.com to update your information before your first appointment.
