We apologize for any trouble regarding your sessions stopping when your Android’s screen goes to sleep.
We are aware that this issue is affecting some Android devices and our Engineering team has found that it is most likely resulting from a battery optimization setting on your device. If you are experiencing this issue on a Huawei device please scroll down to the bottom of this page.
Battery optimization is a feature that helps conserve battery power on your device and is often enabled by default on most Android devices to improve the device's overall battery life. Battery optimization tends to fully shut down apps that are deemed not useful in the moment, which may result in powering off apps that are running in the background. While most battery optimization options can be found within the 'Battery/Power" or "Application" section under the device’s settings menu, Android devices vary significantly by make and model. If you cannot find this setting, please reference the user manual or documentation for your Android device.
Additionally, we have found that some Android users are affected by this issue when using popular third-party power-saving apps such as PowerGenie, Greenify, Battery Saver 2019, or Battery Optimizer & Cleaner.
We kindly ask that you explore your device's settings to locate the battery optimization/power saving section to make sure that these settings do not affect Headspace's app performance. Please note that this might mean that you have to uninstall the third-party battery-saving app from your device.
Once you have made sure that these power saving settings have been disabled toward the Headspace app, you should no longer experience this issue.
Huawei devices:
We have found that this issue is particularly persistent with Huawei devices due to the EMUI OS that is also installed on these devices. With that said, please click HERE and follow the listed steps to adjust your battery settings to ensure that your device DOES NOT close the Headspace app upon locking.
Secondly, some Huawei devices might have the PowerGenie app installed on their devices which is a known source of this issue. We ask that you take a moment to uninstall that app which should ensure that you no longer experience this issue. You can find more details on how this particular app affects your device HERE.
