Please note: Access to video coaching depends on your Headspace benefit through your employer or provider. Please reach out to Member Support at caresupport@headspace.com to confirm your eligibility.
How does coaching work?
You first choose your coaching experience: either scheduled video sessions or scheduled text sessions with your lead coach. Alongside either path, you will have access to unlimited, 24/7 in-the-moment text coaching. You can switch paths anytime by contacting Member Support, although switching paths means working with a new lead coach.
What’s the difference between video and text-based coaching?
Video coaching offers a limited number of scheduled 45-minute sessions using live video. Text-based coaching offers scheduled 30-minute sessions using in-app messaging. Both offer thoughtful, goal-focused support, delivered in the format that fits you best.
Can I switch between video and text-based coaching?
Yes, you can switch coaching paths anytime by reaching out to Member Support. When you switch, you’ll be matched with a new lead coach.
Can I turn off video and just use text during a scheduled video session?
Absolutely. If you prefer not to be on camera, you and your coach can use the Zoom chat during your scheduled video session. This session will count toward your video session limit.
Can I use video coaching on my phone?
Yes. Video sessions work on mobile and computer devices. Make sure you have the latest version of the Headspace app, Zoom, and a strong internet connection.
How should I prepare for a video session?
Find a quiet, private space with good Wi-Fi. Use headphones for a clearer experience and be ready to focus and reflect.
Do I need to update my app to use video coaching?
Yes! Make sure your Headspace app is up to date to access the full video coaching experience.
What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?
Coaching and therapy are both helpful, but they do different things.
Therapy is designed to help with mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, or trauma. Therapists are licensed professionals who use proven methods (like CBT) to help you understand your emotions, patterns, and past experiences. Coaching is more about taking action in the here and now. Coaches work with you on things like stress, building routines, or reaching your goals (personal or professional). They’re not there to diagnose or treat mental health conditions, but they’re great at helping you stay motivated and make real progress.
You can even use coaching between therapy sessions to get extra support and accountability along the way.
