What qualifications do Headspace coaches have?
Our coaches are highly qualified, holding either a master’s degree in a psychology-related field and/or is certified by the NBHWC (National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching). Every coach is trained to deliver real-world, actionable guidance that helps members achieve their mental health and wellness goals.
Is coach matching available for video coaching?
Not at this time. You’ll be assigned a lead coach based on your selected coaching path.
Can I change coaches if I want someone new?
Yes. If you'd like to switch coaches, just reach out to Member Support (caresupport@headspace.com) and we’ll help.
I’m already using text coaching — what happens now that video is available?
No changes will be made to your coaching unless you decide to switch! You’ll see messages in the app letting you know that video coaching is now available, along with what to expect if you choose to switch.
In some cases, your current coach may now only offer video sessions. If that happens, you’ll have a choice: you can switch to video coaching to stay with your current coach (and don’t worry — you can keep your camera off or use Zoom chat if that feels more comfortable), or you can continue with text coaching and be matched with a new lead coach. Either way, you’re always in control of how you want to get support.
Why am I being assigned a new coach?
We're making some changes to how coaching is delivered at Headspace. A few of our coaches are moving to offer video sessions only. If you currently use text-based coaching and want to stick with that modality, you’ll be assigned a new lead coach who will continue to support you via text.
Will I lose my progress?
Not at all. Your new coach will have access to all your previous coaching notes, so they’ll understand your goals and where you're at in your journey.
If I switch back to text coaching after exhausting my video sessions, will I have the same coach I had for video?
Not right now. Because our coaches are assigned to either video or text, switching modalities means you'll be paired with a new lead coach. We understand this can feel like a big change and we’re working toward a future where you can switch modalities without switching coaches.
Can I share feedback about my coach or experience?
Definitely. You can give feedback at any time through the app or Member Support. We’re always listening and improving.
